Athearn DCC sound programming
Posted by gumnut on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 6:31 AM

I have an Athearn Genisis 2-8-2 wiht sound. It is too loud for my home layout but when I try to mute it or change the volume it has no effect. The manufacturer is 141 ( I belive this is Soundtrax) and the version is 16. Manuals from the manufacturer have CV 128 as master volume but this can be 0 and it still is very loud. Also F8 too mute has no effect.

I am open to any suggestions as to how to solve this.

Cheers

Paul

CV128 is the master volume control. I suspect that when you set it to 0 it isn;t really getting set. How are you programmign it, and with which DCC system? Try using Ops Mode programming on the main to set it, this uses full power for programming and tends to avoid any issues with the Tsunami power draw and reluctance to program ont he program track without a booster.
