PK2 Mars light adjustment
Posted by Bill O on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 5:15 PM

I'm installing a NCE D13SJR (non sound) Decoder in a PK2 E7 "A" Unit Model
920-47987. It seems to work normally but the mars light burns constantly when
activated. The NCE decoder instructions say to change cv122 from 0 (factory
setting) to 9 when but I do this the letter boards fluctuate like the mars light
should. Headlight and mars light turn on and off when proper F buttons are
pressed. I can also turn on and off the letter boards. Any ideas? I'm using a
NCE Power Cab on my test bench. Thanks Bill Oberst

Do you have the function #3 ( green wire) wired to the Mars light?

Sounds like you may have mixed up the wiring a bit.

Programing CV 122 should make #3 output wire operate as a Mars light if programmed to 9.  Also CV 35 shuld be set to 4.

SOunds liek maybe it has seperate bulbs for the number boards? Which function button it turning the Mars light on and off? If it's F2, then you want to change CV123 to 9, CV122 changes the effect for the green wire, which defaults to F1, and it sounds liek that one is connected to your number board lights.

Not sure if this applies to your E-7. But my P2K PA unit came with a dual element 3 wire mars light. If you are using the OEM bulb you may have to wire it different or replace it with an led or regular bulb.
