Thanks Randy

I was hoping this problem was not the decoder, because the sound is not "music to my ears". The round speaker is about 30 mm and should do a decent job with the  base sound.   I do have a QSI decoder, and others in some other locos, so the next step is compare the sound from them.

Thanks very much.

Tsunamis have weak whistles and horns, it's the way it is. A 6 chime whistle is generally NOT a yard switcher whistle udner any circumstances, and even some big road locos had high pitched shriek whistles - ie PRR, and the in-service Reading T-1 (Ramble/excursion ones used various whistles off passenger steam locos that were multi-chime and had a more pleasing sound)

Not sure how much of the stuff Bachmann left in, but the reverb and equalizer features of the Tsunami can help, a little. My Bowser FT has a full Tsunami in it, not stripped down, and while the diesel engine sounds are really good, the horns just plain stink, no matter how much I mess around with reverb and equalizer adjustments. The video fromt he latest COdy's Office runnign the new Bowser ALco C630 bears this out, the motor sounds are dead on Alco, but the horn is HORRIBLE.

I'm sort of disappointed in the Tsunami, and i should ahev realized this from back when I first saw oen and could barely hear it (granted, large convention center setting - but other brands demoing their sound decoders were easily heard). Since I got a powered loco with sound installed for the price of the decoder along, I can't complain too much, but when I add sound to an RS-3 or two it will be with QSI, not Tsunami. They really need to fix those horns/whistles.

Bachman decoder sounds, for USRA 2-6-6-2

Patience Guys,  Sigh

As I posted before, I'm hoping to get a response from some one that is running a Bachmann
USRA 2-6-6-2 with OEM sound.
The OEM decoder, a stripped down Tsunami has only three whistles. The B+ 03, C+S 801 and the USRA 6 chime. These all sound like they should be on a small yard switcher. Are they correct for my loco are is  the decoder only able to produce that weak tinny sound?  I want to be sure before I spend $$ for a new sound decoder.

I appreciate any help.  Bow
