TSU 1000 is there a difference?

Yes they should be fine.  Just make sure the loco you have already has dropping resistors in place.  IF you don't know then simply put them in until you figure it out.

Here's a thread I started in 2010 shortly after they came out.  I posted pics throught the thread with things I found along the way. Note that this was a conversion from the Protosound 3.0 and not the DCC ready version.  The DCC ready version will already have the correct polarity on the light boards.

The TSU-1000 is the correct one to use.

I did a couple of them a year and a half ago and they work great.

I I have an MTH SD70Ace. The TSU 1000 appears to easier to install rather than a Tsunami TSU-AT1000

The both appear to have number boards/ditch lights etc so is the TSU an easier install?
