MisterBeasley There's no reason that you have to own everything you need. Find someone that has DCS set up and running. I would try the Classic Toy Trains forum here as a start, or look for a shop that sells a lot of MTH equipment. They would probably let you use the system to adjust volume levels under DCS, which (I would hope) would then stay that way under DCC. Bring the manual so the process can be as easy as possible.

Exactly what I was going to say. Just Trains should be able to do this.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Is this a solder all wires job or do they have an 8 or 9 pin plug?

Can you replace the MTH decorder with a standard DCC one?

My MTH steamers sound good out of the box.
It does suck that you can't adjust the sound levels though.
Mark,
Without an MTH DCS system, you're pretty limited to what you can adjust CV-wise with your DCC system. I think that's what really gripes folks the most about their decoders.

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
I think I already know the answer to this based on searches that I've done on several forums but I have to ask anyway.
Now that I'm on DCC I can run my MTH Triplex and access several features that I could not do previously on DC, such as sounding the whistle. I really like everything about the model ......except:
The whislte sounds weak
and I'd like to adjust the speed to a slower range.
Short of buying a DCS system is there now a fix for this?
Thanks in advance,
Mark
