I didn't see anything in the literature from Rivarossi. I can try to set CV8 to 8, but if it doesn't work I will just put the loco on the roundhouse siding and wait for a new decoder.

I tried to set the CV3 and 4 and now the decoder won't respond at all???? Guess I will just wait until I can get a Tsunami for it.

You'd be much better off asking this question on the JMRI Yahoo! Group. However, that said, it appears that there is at least one Arnold-Rivarossi definition included with JMRI. If it doesn't recognize it when you try to ident the decoder, can you manually select it?
Couldn't you just program CV3 and CV4 through your throttle until you get something that you like? You don't need Decoder Pro to do that. (General rule of thumb is that deceleration (CV4) is half the value of CV3.) Or, change CV3 and CV4 to "0" and eliminate the momentum completely.
I have an HO Rivarossi Big Boy with factory DCC. It has an Arnold decoder in it and I can't get DecoderPro to recognize it. Is there any way to get it to read the decoder? I tried all the decoder brands listed and none will work with the Arnold. The literature gives a couple of CV listings for basic changes but nothing to adjust the acceleration and deceleration rates. The factory settings are way to slow to stop the loco....it coasts for about 12-14 inches before coming to a complete stop. I plan to replace this with a Tsunami some time in the future but still would like to make it function a little better. I don't know if the Arnold decoder follows NMRA standards either. Their factory set address is 08, not the normal 03.
