First off I'd figure out how to do a factory re-set. As delivered from the factory, a decoder should have all speed and momentum settings at -0- so that they have no affect - the engine should run the same as it did under DC (or pretty close to it).

What type of DCC system are you using?? The instructions for the DCC system will tell you how to set CVs.

It's not the decoder manual that tells you HOW to program a decoder.  You need to look into your DCC SYSTEM manual for that.  Once you get that straight, then you check the decoder manual for the specific CV's to change to do what you want to do with them.

All DCC systems work that way.  It's just that some systems are easier to use, programming wise, than others.

Elmer.

The above is my opinion, from an active and experienced Model Railroader in N scale and HO since 1961.

(Modeling Freelance, Eastern US, HO scale, in 1962, with NCE DCC for locomotive control and a stand alone LocoNet for block detection and signals.) http://waynes-trains.com/ at home, and N scale at the Club.

I agree with you that the Digitrax instruction manuals leave a lot to be desired.

For decoders, I use mostly NCE products but, in some cases, I do use Digitrax and the lack of detailed instructions drives me nuts.

In addition to the links already provided, you might take a look at this link.  There is a lot of useful info there to walk you through the setting of CV's.

Exactly. It's like asking how to work on my car with my tools.

What brand do you have of each and what is the problem you're trying to solve?

What model and brand of decoders are you trying to adjust?   What model of Digitrax DCC system and throttle are you using?

Here are a couple of articles from the Digitrax tech support depot web site that might help.

This first one tells you the CVs that Digitrax uses for the basic speed response

here is the one on how to do it with the Zephyr

Can anyone go through the steps to change cv's on a Digitrax system? Everyone, including Digitrax ,assumes all know how to do this.  The Digitrax decoder manual is not helpful in this regard. I need to adjust the speeds on some of my locos. Some start at too high a setting and some at a very low setting, such as 33 or 1. One loco is at full speed immediately.  Yours, Elvin Howland
