Looking for replacement motors for DCC
Posted by yvesmary on Monday, May 23, 2011 8:46 PM

I'm looking for sources for replacement motors to repower a brass HO 4-6-4 steam locomotive. I found a 20 X 32 motor from NWSL but the stall current is rated at 1.7 amps. Isn't that too much for the Tsunami decoder I plan to use? I've done some searching but haven't been able to find any.

Any help will be appreciated.

The Tsunami is 1 amp peak.

Micro-Loco Motion has a good selection of motors. He also sells them on ebay. I have bought directly from him and a couple from him via ebay.

Others will no doubt have sources

Welcome

Greenway products has some can motors. They also have motor and gear case assemblies.

Did you email Dave at NWSL and ask him for a suggestion? He has helped me before.

Thank you all for your replies and links.

But I wish they would give you more information on each motor so you wouldn't have to email to get more specs on them.

Dude, think about this. No company I know of advertises a locked rotor current spec. Usually a running no load current.
