Figure 8 wiring

As noted earlier how is the figrue 8 configured.  Does it have the classic bridge that crosses the 8? or does it have a crossing track? or does it allow you to change directions in the middle?

Tom put it best.  It depends on the configuration of the figure 8 as part of your layout.

A stand alone figure 8 does not require an reversing unit because there is no issue with reverse polarity.

However a figure 8 that exits and then re-renters the main layout will require a reversing unit because reverse polarity will occur as the figure 8 re-enters the main layout.

If it's just a figure 8 by itself - no.  However, if it's a figure 8 that's inside an oval and attached to the oval with turnouts - yes.

Does a figure 8 require any special wiring, such as an automatic reverser, to function.
