Question on IF Detector/Signal Driver?
Posted by hwolf on Monday, May 2, 2011 5:25 PM

I have just purchased a IF Detector/Signal Driver system from South Bend Signal. I also have two Model Power #1680 three light signals.

Instruction says it can drive BiColor LEDS (three wire common ground type) It will not drive 2 wire LEDS. There system is powered by 12-18Volt DC

My question is this .

1. Is my Model Power Signals LEDS

2. Is this the three wire type they are talking about?

3. Is the Model Power able to connect to DC?

Bicolor LEDs would be commonly used in a searchlight signal. If you have a 2 light (red and green) or a 3 light (red-yellow-green) signal, those would not be bicolor LEDs but individual LEDs or lamps.  Pretty sure the Model power ones are lamps. The South Bend Signal controller sounds liek it can only control LEDs - basedon the product description. They don;t have an online manual - check in there and see if it can drive lamps as well.

Model Power signals use 16 Volt incandescent bulbs, not LEDs.
