According to my friend Mr. Google, the F59PH is an EMD 710. The F59PHI is powered by a turbo charged 12cyl -710 E3. I don't know the difference between the 2 but I have installed 3 Tsunami 710's in SD70MAC's. They emulate the turbo very prominently..

Is the 710 E3 the same as used in the SD70ACE? If so, there is a Tsunami for that version also. The only difference I have been able to determine on the locos I have is that  the turbo sound on the SD70ACE is a little less prominent than on the SD70MAC version. Motor sounds seem more muffled. Having never heard or seen a real live F59, I have no point of reference. I guess my thought would be either version woiuld be suitable because after the loco is 3 or 4 feet away from you, Who can tell?

The question is who makes a decoder with the correct sounds for that loco.  I'm not sure Soundtraxx does.

Roy.

If there is room enough you can plug a Tsunami decoder into either the 8 pin or the nine pin plug on the Athearn light board. Finding room for the speaker and enclosure would be the hardest part. If you use the 8 pin socket be sure to remove the jumper out of the nine pine JST connector.

I have a Athearn F59PHI diesel passenger Locomotive (utah Commuter Frontrunner) and It is Dcc Quick plug Equiped. I am wondering if anyone could help me add a Dcc quick plug decoder and also how to add sound too? Can anyone help? Where to purchase the decoders and how to install them Quick plug and sound decoders?

                        Thanks, Roy Brownson Jr
