Greetings.
Does anyone know how many watts this transformer uses or puts out?
Is the MRC 0001301 stronger than the Lionel CW-80?
The bottom of the MRC shows O/P 24 VAC 2650mA.
The bottom on this shows O/P 18 VAC / 80 W.
A hobby shop owner told me the MRC has more power and carries around 120 watts. The MRC website doesn't say. The paperwork in the box says 60 watts sustained power output. Surfing the internet says around 80 watts and less.
I wanted something a little more powerful than my Lionel CW-80.
Thanks
24 volts times 2.650 amps equals 63.6 watts. The paper work in the box is about right.
I am guessing that you are running 3 rail O scale? Lionel, MTH etc? I would suggest posting your question in the Classic Toy Trains section of the forum. http://cs.trains.com/TRCCS/forums/95.aspx there you will likely find folks that have real practical experience with this and can make recommendations about an alternative supply to meet your needs.

Ned Thomas has nailed it. So you are getting less total power but a higher maximum voltage. I'm not in your scale so I don't know whether the higher voltage is of use to you or not.
