Have and MTH SD70ACe, trying to marry it up to another loco, but everytime I create a consist with the MTH and other loco's it wont function. Is there some hidden secret that I dont know about? I looked in the manuel and didnt find anything that helped my cause? I had heard something at one time about CV29, does that have anything to do with it? Thanks for everyones help!
What DCC system are you using? You need to use command station assisted consisting, NOT CV19. NCE defaults to trying to modify CV19, MTH doesn't do this. On NCE it's called an 'old style' consist.

If using NCE you'll have to use the old style consist or whatever name they gave it (forget it right now)
The default is advanced consist and MTH does not support it.

I have seven MTH SD70ACe's with Proto 3.0 sound. I also operate with NCE Powerhouse Pro.
First off CV29, I have learned with thanks to other members on this forum is to change the locomotives address number from the factory setting of 3 to the cab number of your locomotive, eg 9371.
With MTH loco's you need to program on the main. Change CV29 to value 38. This will automatically change the locomotives address from factory 3 to the cab address number. You will hear the loco sound the horn twice when the alteration to the CV is received. Make sure you keep the loco on the track for at least 5 seconds after the horn sounds to allow the alteration to save. Do this with each of your locos, one at a time without any other locos on the same track.
To set up a consist with your NCE controller, first place the locos that you want in the consist together fire up the sound on each unit (F3) and press 'SETUP' this will ask the loco's address. Enter the locos address and direction of travel. Start with the lead loco and press 'ADD' and enter the loco number and direction for each loco that you want in the consist. Remember to enter the correct dirrection of each loco in the consist, as a loco facing forward will be in a tug of war with a reverse facing loco.
After getting used to that you can fine tune your consists by turning off headlight and ditchlights of trailing locomotives etc.
I have found that the MTH HO SD70ACe's consist very well when done under the old consist method. The MTH's don't have CV 19 so don't support advanced consisting. The locomotives have very smooth drive mechanisms and found that I don't need to speed match them at all when running with other MTH SD70ACe's.
I first off purchased 4 Athearn Genesis SD70ACe's. The MTH's run rings around them.

I have an MRC DCC systems. Would you possibly know how I would get it to MU to my other loco's using a four digit address?
