I use a N scale LokSound Micro decoder in a couple Spectrum 44 ton diesels. A SoundTraxx Micro Tsunami would work also. Some put a round speaker in the oil tank. Some put the speaker up inside the roof and remove a couple windows. All the wiring instructions come with the decoder.

You will have to mill the frame to hide the decoder.

A Yahoo SoundTraxx DCC Group has all the photos and instructions of a 45 ton with sound. You have to join the Yahoo Group to see the photos. I have yet to find a sound install in the 45 ton anywhere else.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

N scale DCC/Sound decoder in an HO locomotive

I was wondering if it would be possible to install an N scale DCC/Sound decoder in a Bachmann HO 45 ton or 44 ton locomotive. The layout is basically a loop on a 63 inch by 45 inch loop and only one locomotive wiill run at a time.
