Like I said in the other thread, 9 pin decoders with no harnesses are usually cheaper since they don;t have extra wires and plugs that you don't need for these installs. I like TCS. The T1A will work, unless you want to wire up ditch lights in which case you'll need more functions, like a T4.

I have a large fleet of SD45T-2's and SD40T-2's that I am finally converting over to DCC, I had posted earlier that I was having trouble installing a motor-only decoder into my Athearn SD40T-2 that has the quick plug feature, The probelm I ran into with these particular motors is that the SoundTraxx decoder I purchased is a hair wider than the circuit board and so it is impossible to get the shell back onto the frame. I have the option to plug a 9-pin decoder into the wiring harness, what would be the best 9-pin decoder that would fit into this loco? I was able to install the 8-pin SoundTraxx decoder on my SD45's though, it fit inside perfectly. Thanks for everyones help! Nate
