Newbie: Problem w/ Red Lights on Kato Amtrak Superliner Diner Phase III
Posted by RozMayan on Monday, February 21, 2011 12:14 AM

Hi all,

I went to a railroad expo today and walked out with a set of Kato HO-scale Amtrak Superliner cars and the F40PH engine. It's been about two decades since I've had a model railroad, and it was LGB back then. Everything is working great except for one thing: on the Diner Phase III car (#38010), the dual red lights on the back of the car won't light up with the rest of the lights on the other cars while the train is running. When I first assembled everything, I realized that the cars need to go on the track in a certain direction in order for the lights to come on when the train is going backward or forward, and I've already tried placing the Diner Phase III car on both ways with no luck. I thought about calling Kato to ask for help, but if the car is defective I'm not sure that I can get it replaced/repaired because I have no receipt - it was a cash purchase at an expo - and I figured maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I'd like to try to fix the car myself, but I can't find any useful instructions online that will walk me through the process. Any help that can be offered will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Jesse

The guys at Kato are great, they will try to help you, they always have me and they make great eqpt.  They're located just outside of Chicago.     Call them first.   The only issue I've ever had is if they don't have a part in stock.

And here's the link to Kato USA's web site.

There's 'contact' information on one of the tabs near the top of the page.
