I am looking to remotor some older Rivarossi steam engines to run on DCC. What is the best motor to use?
I use the NWSL motors with a flywheel on one end. They also have the driveline components you may need.

Which older loco? I have a older Rivarrosi 4-6-0 that has the vertical shaft and worm driving a worm gear on the rear driver axle.

The engines I am trying to remotor are a Big Boy, A Challenger and a Cab Forward.

Why are you remotoring these locos? Rivarossi was a pioneer in well-engineered drive trains. My Rivarossi heavy 2-8-0 (birthday gift circa 1965) and then the N&W Y6 were revelations in how HO locos could run.
I have a large collection of Rivarrosi. I would like to run a few on my DCC system. The original motors draw to much power and burn out the decoders.
do a search on Ebay for a guy (I think he goes by 'the motor man') who sells remotor kits for the Rivarossi large steam engines using can motors and custom mounts. These would be perfect for DCC conversions. I replace my 3 rivarossi articulated locos with newer ones that have the can motor and flywheel. They are great running and have the small RP25 flanges on all the wheels.
