Hi
I am new to this. I have three locos, all Bachmann. An 0-6-0 DCC/no sound that came with the bachmann controller, a 4-4-0 DCC w/sound, and a 4-6-0 DCC w/sound. My 0-6-0 has been running really crappy, like as if it is not getting consisten power, It kind of jerks and stutters although it does keep going. At first I thouoght I had a problem with my track being dirty or maybe the power source was at fault. But I can put either the 4-4-0 or the 4-6-0 on either right before running the 0-6-0 and they both run just fine.
So, can someone tell me where to start in figuring out what the problem is? There doesn't appear to be anything visually wrong with it, but I haven't taken it apart yet to check out its innards. I am hoping someone can give me some leads on what I need to be looking for before I go that route.
This brings up another point. Even though there seems to be endless books and magazine articles on all sorts of model railroading information, I have yet to see anything that gives you any detailed information on how to service and repair the locomotives.
Thanks

It is an 0-6-0 not an 0-6-0T. Yes, it is a Bachmann product, it came as a package deal with the Bachmann EZ Command DCC system. All the electrical components are inside the locomotive, not in the tender. There are no wires leading from the tender to the locomotive. You can run the locomotive without the tender attached. The DCC controller appears to be stuffed in the cab area of the loco. So, would this likely be a problem with the pickups in the locomotive?
I had an atlas switcher that shorted out the sys. When I powered back up it would shutter and shake, come to find out it didn't know if it was in STC or RTC mode. I had to reset it to the RTC mode (DCC), STC is if you are running in DC. Your manual should tell you how to do this (if it,s possible)
Have you cleaned the locomotive's wheels ? Dirty wheels can cause the symptoms you describe. Also, try resetting the decoder to factory defaults and see if that helps.
Whenever a DCC loco starts to act funny the first thing to do is reset the decoder. There was another thread this week where someone with an atlas decoder had a similar issue. A reset fixed it right up. If still having the problem after a couple of reset tries then you get into the other causes.
Resetting a standard Bachmann decoder is usually done but setting CV8 to 8.
If your bachmann controller is the basic one, there should be a procedure for decoder reset included in the manual.
Good Luck
