i have an n scale decoder , and im guessing this porbably wouldnt work but, would it be possible to use this in qn ho scale locomotive ?
What sort of decoder is it? If it's a board repalcement type, it would be a real pain to use in an HO loco. If it's a wired type, it will work fine as long as the loco doesn't draw more power than the decoder can handle.

Yes. I have a DZ143 in a 50 year old HO American Flyer Hudson. You may have to watch the amount of cars you put on the train to keep it from stalling especially if the loco has traction tires.
The decoder in my Broadway Limited AC6000 is an N scale N14IP
It's one of the recommended decoders for the loco and the loco's one of the largest diesels available.

You need to look at the stall current of your locomotive. The scale designation is the manufacturer's method of telling us the smallest scale it was intended to fit in. Doesn't mean it won't work in larger scales as long as the current limits of the decoder won't be exceeded. Instruction for determining the stall current of your loco are in the Digitrax decoder manual and have been posted numerous times.
