With the 8 pin plug then yes, it is as DCC Ready as anything ever gets. According to the Atlas web site, all runs of the RS-11 since 2000 have the 8 pin plug, so maybe they just stopped bothering to list that as a 'feature' Since there is no standard for use of that term, you will find that there are locos that DO say "dcc ready" on the box that require considerable work to install a decoder and others that truly are a simple plug in, and everything in between.

Atlas RS-11, DCC Ready?
Posted by colesdad on Friday, January 28, 2011 8:27 AM

I have an Atlas RS-11 that I bought from ebay. On the board, there is an "8 pin"?? plug in, smaller board that is removable. Does this mean it is DCC ready, and I can plug a decoder in? The box the engine came in ,doesn't say DCC ready. Any ideas?

Thanks

Bob
