Just received a new 4-6-0, large driver with factory Tsunami sound. Very nice , runs and sounds good. Below is what the install looks like.
NO, Bachmann and SoundTraxx will not sell the decoder.
From what I see in the Bachmann on board sound diagrams, all the steamers still have the PC board and the decoder plugs into the PC board 8 pin NMRA socket. A DC adapter plug was included with the loco.

Bloody Caps! Nice way to mess with the BEMF readings.

I have no idea if the caps are an issue. Might be Bachmann worked with SoundTraxx on this issue. I just removed the caps because I could. A 4 inch wire cutterbsnipped them off quite easily.
I bought the loco for $160 and a few dollars fors hipping.
About two years ago I bought this loco DCC ready for $95.00, $110 for Micro Tsunami and $5.00 for speaker and had to do the work myself. The factory equipped has a few less sound specs but I can live with it.
They DO affect it, best that you removed them. It's not just the BEMF they mess up, it's the high frequency drive as well.
