Well I am getting ready to pull the trigger on my first DCC setup. I really like the buttons and shape on the NCE setup so I was looking at the following unit:
http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/NCE-Power-Cab-p/nce-524025.htm
This is just for my own N scale set so 2-4 trains is ideal but it is a large set (24' by 4') so should I be looking at more amps? or boosters? Also it would be nice at some point to be wirelss as well so I am wondering if I should start with a lrger system up front. Any tips or links or reccomendations?
Also was looking at these locos:
http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/Athearn-N-F45-WC-p/ath-22352.htm
Are these truly ready to run with an NCE setup (just program and run?) I also saw someone posted some issues with these locos and the Digitrax setups with not enought power form the Digitrax unit to get them running on test tracks so they had to tweak the DCC unit but not sure if anyone else has any experience with these.
Thanks!!!
Jon

There is NO DCC system currently on the market that would need 'tweaking' to run one of those locos. Or 2 of them. Be careful of what you read.
That loco is indeed ready to go, it has DCC and sound already installed. Right out of the box it will run as address 3, or you can program it to the cab number.
Size of the layout has little bearing on how much power you need. The main factor is how many locos do you plan to run at once?
