ME # 5 turnouts are for On30 not HO.  I use their HO #6 turnouts and they are great.  Atlas turnouts are wired the same way.  -  Nevin

I have some Peco and Walther's/Shinohara #4 turnouts and don't have any problems with them.

Micro-Engineering makes DCC turnouts in #6 and #5 that are ready to run in DCC right out of the package.  Also whats the best way to wire my turnouts? Thanks for everyones help!

Last I saw, Micro-Engineering only makes #6 turnouts, regardless of scale and gauge.  I would like to hear they have broadended their line with #5s, especially in code 70 HO and HOn3.

My preference is to power the frogs through a polarity contact on the switch throw mechanism.  Blue Point, Bull Frog, Humpyard, Tortoise all have these contacts.  With Atlas switch machines, you can add a Snap Relay in parallel with the switch machine to power the frog.  Powered frogs means my 2 axle locomotives won't stall on the insulated turnout frogs.

my thoughts, your choices

I currently have several Atlas Customline #4 turnouts that are unmodified in my yard and they cause me no problems with my DCC setup.  I don't wire the frogs and my Spectrum 44 tonners and other 4 axle diesels have no problem negotiating them.

Atlas turnout have always been DCC Ready.....Just install them.  BTW, The Atlas Customline #4 is really a #4.5 turnout...

Micro-Engineering DCC Turnouts

Micro-Engineering makes DCC turnouts in #6 and #5 that are ready to run in DCC right out of the package. I run #6 turnouts on my mainline control points but I want to have #4 turnouts for my industrial and yard areas. Atlas makes #4 turnouts but the way understand it I would need to modify these turnouts in order for my trains to run properly with my DCC setup? Also whats the best way to wire my turnouts? Thanks for everyones help!
