Posted by C&O Fan on Friday, December 31, 2010 4:44 PM

Going crazy cause i can't remember where i bought

My upgrade chip

It's Chip # 112-3 Which is for a Lifelike /Proto 2000

GP-9 with a nathan 5 chime horn

I've been to the qsi solutions site but no luck

and Litchfield Station doesn't have them in stock

Does any one have a link to purchase one ?

Did you try www.tonystrains.com?  They seem to have them listed: http://www.tonystrains.com/products/qsi_solutions_main.htm

(scroll down to the upgrade chip selections)

Jerr,

The QSI upgrade chips offer the following:

  • BEMF - was not available due the the MTH lawsuit
  • Better prime mover sound files
  • Different bell & whistle/horn options

I have re-chipped 2 BLI USRA Heavy Mikes that did not have BEMF - the whistle in the new chip has much better options.  And the motor control is better even if you do not use BEMF a lot.

Without question The correct horn is more than worth the price

The C&O geeps used the Nathan 5 chime

But other options are just icing on the cake

There are 5 levels of sound ramp up

and you can actually hear the transisition

great speed control

and BEMF

ANd once you have the upgrade chip you can use the Quantum Programmer to upload any of the sound files they have in case you want to change something, or use the decoder in a different loco.
