Hello Lou, thank you for your reply, you're right there is very little space at the rear of the engine, the speaker enclosure is at the rear and I would have to cut out a piece of the bulkhead to insert the low voltage bulb.

I e-mailed QSI and waiting for their feedback.

Thanks

Serge, it sounds like the first step would be to find out if your decoder supports this lighting function. QSI's website should say so I imagine, and also what voltage the decoder supplies to the rear light. If I remember F units, the light you are referring to is a small one on the rear bulkhead of the engine. I suppose a small micro bulb or LED could be fitted there assuming room exists. If your decoder doesn't support this function (back up light) your only option might be to fit another decoder. Back in the DC diode drop days this would be an easy deal. Bon Chance!

Installing a Back-up light
Posted by scribbelt on Monday, December 27, 2010 10:08 PM

Hello, I recently purchased an Intermountain FP7 loco equipped with a QSI DCC decoder and I would like to know how to install a "Back-up" light on the loco. The lens is already in place on the body shell.

Thank you.
