does anyone know what ind of "harness" the ho athearn sw1500 uses?

 The newer RTR ones have both a 9 pin and an 8 pin connector, you can use either. Plain 9 pin decoders with no harnesses are usually cheapest.

I just put a Digitrax DZ125 in an Athearn SW1500.  I do not use the Athearn wiring harnes.  I hard wire all of my decoders.  I have also placed a DH123 in an Athearn SW1500.
