Need to know if Bachmann put capasitors on motor. I took the one out of the tender, but still having slow speed issues. Start voltage set at 35 and loco still does not move till throttle is at around 25-30 at 128 speed steps it is the DCC ready version with a Soundtraxx DSD-B210LC decoder. And if it does have capasitors on motor what is the trick to geting cab and boiler off. This is the first Bachmann I have had that I gave up on trying to get loco apart. Any help would be nice. Thanks, Truck.

There are no capacitors inside the loco, if you removed the ones on the tender circuit board you got them all. Everyone I know who has these locos has no problems, but, you might want to consider removing the Bachmann circuit board completely and fully hard wiring the sound decoder.
I don't use DCC or sound, but do know a little about it and a lot about Bachmann steamers - if I was using DCC, I would remove all circuit boards like the Bachmann locos have.

That's an older LC series decoder - those aren't exactly known for great motor control. In fact the only one I have is in a dummy B unit diesel and used just for sound. There is only 1 adjustment for the motor control, CV9 for the PWM period. See page 12 of the tech manual: http://www.soundtraxx.com/manuals/lc_techref.pdf
Past this, there's not much you can do beyond using a newer sound decoder with better motor drive.

Problem solved. I installed a TCS T1 decoder to circuit board. I ground down the circuits coming from the 8 pin socket on the board except for the red and black ones. That way it could still hold the Soundtraxx LC decoder in place and still have sound. Then I wired in the TCS decoder to circiut board. I used an ohm meter to determin what wires went were for lights and motor control. After adjusting a few CV,s it runs realy sweet now, it will creep at speed step one. Thanks for the info on the older Sountraxx decoders.
