No sound control with MRC Prodigy Express consist
Posted by jeepinjoseph on Sunday, November 14, 2010 5:20 PM

Hello,

This may topic may well have already been beat to death here...but I am interested in knowing if I am not doing something right...I have the MRC Prodigy Express DCC...I want to consist one DCC sound equipped loco with another DCC non-sound-equipped loco (both are the same type engine). I consist to two locos and still get the diesel engine rumble and notch-up sounds when I increase the throttle from the sound-equipped loco. Headlights, direction works as well but the bell, horn and other sound functions do not work. Is there a "Lead" unit function command I'm not doing that's beyond the basic MRC consisting directions that will allow those sounds keys to work? Thanks!

Try looking into CV's 21 and 22, they control what functions are activated using the Consist address.

Look at this link:

When you do advanced consisting, by default, the functions do not respond to the consist address, but instead continue to respond to the original decoder address, so you should be able to control the sounds by selecting the original address.  CV21 and 22 are normally used to tell the functions to respond to the consist address, but check the documentation for your specific decoder to be sure because the implementation varies from decoder to decoder.
