You can use any similar decoder in the same way as shown on the TCS site, a T1 is an HO decoder with a 9 pin harness and wires, the Digitrax equivalent would be the DH163D. It would be wired exactly as shown for the TCS decoder, same color wires and all. In fact, since both have a 9 pin plug, you could swap between them if you wanted to.
There are some Kato board format decoders, but the way the one is int eh Stewart locos, I don;t think it would drop in as expected. Other Kato locos have a pair of tabs that hold the board in place, Stewart has two screws and there appear to be no slots for the tabs.Leaving the stock 'board' (it's actually a piece of plastic, not a pc board) in place keeps the decoder and the wires out of the moving parts.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately that is not the site. I forgot to mention the decoder being used was a Digitrax unit.
I pray every day I break even, Cause I can really use the money!
I started with nothing and still have most of it left!
I ran across a very detailed posting complete with pictures showing a DCC board swap on a Kato/Stewart F3 that came with a light board. Adding DCC means swapping out the board.
The posting was great. Unfortunately I can not locate that posting with the search feature. Anyone remember that posting and know how to retrieve it?
