If you want two speakers hooked to your Tsunami decoder, if using 8 ohm speakers, DO NOT wire them in parallel - the resulting 4 ohm load will fry the amps output.

You have two choices - use two 4 ohm speakers in series for 8 ohms or two 8 ohm speakers for 16 ohms. Two 8 ohm speakers in series will actually put less stress on the amp (twice the resistance at 16 ohms, but half the current draw) so it will run cooler. A side benefit as well, you will be able to run the amp a bit harder without overloading it which is a bonus for driving lower frequencies.

Mark.

If you need a better answer then just hook the first purple wire you grab to the positive and the second to,,,,,  you got it, the negative. Yes

The answers above are correct though. Just keep the speakers the same polarity if there are more than 1.

This is all covered in the paper work that comes with the decoder. It is all covered in the decoder manual at the SoundTraxx site.

Speakers aren't polarized per se, the reason for the markings is so that if you connect multiple speakers you can have them all in phase. If you hook up 2 speakers and they are out of phase, the sound will cancel out. FOr just one speaker it doesn't matter which purple wire goes to which speaker terminal.

Tsu 1000 speaker wires?
Posted by Railcon44 on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 7:42 AM

I just purchased the Tsu 1000 to fit into my Athearn Genesis Big Boy which has a Mrc decoder in it. I'm trying to figure out which purple wire on the Tsu is the positive wire. Their are 2 purple wires and 1 white wire in the middle of the 2 purple wires. Anyone know which one?
