Woo Hoo, time to get me some Gensets.
QSI has said that they have good sound samples but the current code in the decoder can't do a good job of handling the multiple engine startup and shutdowns, so they are working on a special version for the Genset. It will be interesting to see if MRC handles this correctly as they loudly proclaim in their ad, or just base it on speed.

Interesting
One way to tell if the decoder will be a new model is to check for the tell tale heatsink. If the classic big sink is there then it's the same old decoder.

RS2Mike...
Thanks for your question.
I beg everyone's pardon... I mistakenly indicated Tony's Train Exchange, which is wrong.
The CORRECT website to visit is Ulrichmodels.com and click on Hobby store then Click on tab at top of page named: "Sound Samples"
Here is a link: http://www.ulrichmodels.biz/servlet/StoreFront
My appologies to Tony's Train Exchange and to all interested in this post.
HeritageFleet1
Heritagefleet1 Tony's Train Exchange has a 'listening post' where you can compare decoder sound files and he'll most likely have these up when they come out. HeritageFleet1 I can't find said listening post. Where is it on the website?

This is a similar post from the MR forum I put up earlier:
A freind that owns a LHS informed me today that Frank at MRC has told him that they are planning to release a fully-digital 16 bit sound decoder for the new Atlas Genset Locomotive.
A release date has not been announced but it should be available before the holidays.
I hope for their sake that this will be the begining of a new series of Sound decoders of Quality and high performance from MRC.
I always thought that the sound quality was very good on the SD45-2 that MRC originally offered but their later decoders were not reliable.
I will probably buy one when they become available unless Soundtraxx announces a release - then I may wait to hear what that sound like.
