Anybody using this app for their ipod touch? I want a wireless throttle, but dont need all the features of the nce or digitrax radio systems. i see this as a cost effective way to add a wireless throttle. I already have the ipod.

Havent decided whether  to go with the power cab system by nce or the zepher by digitrax.

Layout consists of a double track "display loop" and a single track branch line. The most trains i would have running would be 5. 2 on each loop and controlling one on the branch.

It works very well. Better than expected - you quickly get used to it so you don;thave to keep looking at the ipod/iphone. If you already have it (ipod touch/iphone), and a wireless router, all you need is JMRI (free) and a computer interface for whichever DCC system you get (not free).

I have exactly two apps on my iphone that I paid for - my ebook reader and WiThrottle.

I'd ask that question on the JMRI list.  You're likely to get lots of of useful answers there.

Keep two things in mind with the Powercab:  First, unless you upgrade right off the bat, you're limited to two cab addresses.  In this case it would be the PowerCab itself as the first address, and the USB adapter as the 2nd.  I'm not sure if this allows you to have more virtual cabs (via JMRI) or not.  Hopefully someone who knows for sure will chime in, otherwise this may also be a question for the JMRI list.

Secondly, NCE's USB adapter has some limitations, so it doesn't support all the current JMRI features and functions.  Although that may not be an issue with virtual throttles (assuming they're even an option with the PowerCab), it may limit what you ultimately intend to accomplish.

See above.
