DCC decoder install
Posted by don7 on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 10:08 PM

I recently switched my layout over to DCC.  Does a DCC decoder help control engine torque?

One of the engines  I added a decoder too used to slip with a load of 3 Walthers Heavyweights on my main track which has an incline of 2 1/2 %.

Now that I have a decoder installed the engine can now pull 4 heavyweights up the same incline.

I now have far better speed control on my engines with the decoders in place. I have noticed that my top speed has been somewhat reduced, but that is certainly no problem.

Comments please.

BEMF.

David B

Thanks for responding.

I thought the main benefit of BEMF was that engines would not surge going down inclines.
