It is for the Beyer-Garratt AD60 steam locomotive from Eureka, sound file numbers 407-0 and 407-1. This loco is not listed under available files for the Revolution Q2. I have acquired an AD60 without sound and am looking to upgrade with sound. I did talk to QSI and they said that they can convert Q1a files to be used with the Q2 Revolution decoder, so I am having them do that.

Have you had any reply from QSI on the file upgrade/conversion from .q1a to.q2?
I have tried them in the past to have the files upgraded but received no reply.
hopefully within the next 18months i will be able to record a new set of sound files directly from the real thing (or whenever we actually finish the restoration and return to service)
Which one is missing? I did a quick look at the available files and it seems they have a q2 file for all the various locos that were released with the original Quantum decoders. The older decoders need a chip change which then does get you uploadable sound files but the 'file' is a complete replacement of the decoder's software, not just the sounds. The Revolution decoders just change the sounds - the files aren't even remotely compatible. QSI SOlutions (another of Tony's companies) has the full list with direct downloads. If there is a missing one they haven't made available, they will probably create it if asked for, although odds are good if there's a difference between what the Q1 decoder had vs what they have for the Revolution, the newer one is probably more correct.

Where are you seeing 'files' for these? The older QSI decoders have an 'upgrade' chip available with improved sound files and BEMF. I have 3 of these. I am unaware of actual files you can download. I quick check of the QSI site did not find .q1a 'files'. Maybe they are buried further down into the site - got a URL?

Hello all, I need a particular sound file that is listed on QSI's website under their Quantum upgrade chip page. The file is of type q1a, and I was curious if they can be loaded into a newer Revolution-U decoder. The available sound files on QSI's website for the Revolution are of type .q2. The file I need is not listed there, it's only listed under the upgrade chip. Are the new decoders "backward-compatible" to be able to use .q1a files? Thanks!
