Alright guys, thanks for the input. I was wondering if I could, since with digitrax you can customize sounds, like put in recordings of the actual prototype and everything else. I was initially thinking of using the Tsunami, but I was brain storming, kinda.

I guess I was assuming the OP already had the TCS decoder, so the sound was to be an add-on only.
If you're going to buy both a motor and sound decoder, then it makes more sense to go with the Tsunami. It will cost more than the other two, but the sound is really much better.
If the number one consideration is price, take a look at the SDH164D. This is the low-end Digitrax sound+motor decoder. It has extra lighting functions, too. It costs less than the SFX0416, too.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Yes, you can do that. The Digitrax sound-only decoders only need power, so you will need to connect the red and black wires to that decoder as well as the TCS.
You will have issues doing this, though. Programming dual decoders usually won't work. You need to program first one, then the other. You'll want to give them the same address, but playing with the various CVs requires separate programming.
I would NOT recommend the SFX0416. It has lighting functions, but it sound like you don't need those. The SFX0416 has very low sound output. I have a couple of them, and I can barely hear the sounds, and they get lost completely when other engines are running. Instead, just get a SoundBug (SFX004) which has only sound. The SoundBug is designed to plug into a Digitrax 165-series decoder, but there's no reason you can't just clip the wires and connect it directly to any other decoder.
Hey forum, I was wondering if I could use a TCS A6X decoder, along with a sound only decoder, such as digitrax. I am wanting to install the A6X in a Kato F40PH, since it has the 6 functions along with the led and 1.5 volt bulb capabilities, which simplifies the install. So, will I be able to use a SFX0416 with the A6X?
