What's the trick to remove the trucks for greasing?

I have not gone down that path yet. I will look into it after this weekend.

I read an article that said they weight 12.9 ounces.  Not bad for a small loco.

From what I see in one of the diagrams I posted, the DCC ready version must weigh a little more than the sound equipped. There are two weights to be removed from the weights used to hold the speakers.

I would have never thought of installing speakers the way Atlas does. By the way, the speakers are in series which each other if you did not look closely at the photos I took.

I have a small digital scale that goes to 12 oz max. This loco weighs a little more than 12 oz as the scale is maxed out.

Still lighter than my PCM F3's and BLI F7's that weigh in about 1.2 lbs each.

The weight is good for a 4 axle loco.  They pull great.  I have 4 of them.

Not much room for weight. How does it pull?

   Pete

Not much weight? The front decoder mounts looks like heavy metal, and it has a shelf all the way out to the short hood, over the front truck. The speaker mount is also solid heavy metal, and it looks like there's more weight behind it, out to the end of the long hood. I suspect it's plenty heavy. I know the Trainmaster with the same decoder/speaker arrangement was a beast.,

I will have to wait until I get to the club layout as my home layout is not very large.

Couple more photos.

The shell comes off pretty easy. Just remove the coupler pockets and the shell wiggles off with a little patience.

Yeah, I found the shell slips off rather easily.

Thanks for the pics Rich.  I have two of these beasts and I'm sure the info will come in handy later.

I recently opened up this HO scale new loco as I have seen a couple forum questions about
the insides somewhere. It has QSI sound.
