Ditch Lights/ Digitrax DH165AO Decoder
Posted by Buckingham Branch on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 6:59 AM

I have installed the DH165AO decoder in my HO Atlas GP-38. I wired per instructions and also wired the ditch lights per Digitrax's instructions and have the following problems.

Loco Forward = Headlight on, Ditch Lites on, both front and back, when I press F2, ditch lites flash. I only want front ditch lites to work when the loco is forward.

Loco Reverse = Headlight on, NO ditch lites, front or back, when I press F2, nothing.

I sent an email to Digitrax Tech Support and have heard nothing.

I know there may be some programming of CV's but im not certain which ones and to which values.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Brian

Download the Digitrax Mobile Decoder User's Manual from their web site.  FX function settings are explained on pages 34 through 36 (Paragraph 6.9.1)

 Brian,

In addition to the Digitrax Decoder Manual that cacole pointed out, you may also want to take a look at their KB article:  Setting Up Ditch Lights with Digitrax FX Decoders   It's also available as a PDF.

Digitrax may be slow in responding to email right now since they were in Milwaukee for a few days for the NMRA 75th Convention and the National Train Show.  If you can't get it working using the manual and/or the KB article, I'd try giving them a call.

Thanks for the post.

Digitrax responded to my email and put me in the right direction. The ditch lights are up and running. Thanks.

the rear ditch bulbs need to connected to F3/F4 outputs, not F2/F3, and the CV's set up for rear direction operation.

When in doubt, rule #1 applies Central Missouri Railroad Association cmrraclub.com
