i want to put a decoder in my n athearn f59phi drop in is not an option so can some one please recomend a decoder also has anyone done this with theirs this is my first hardwire install so tips are much appreciated

I used a DIgitrax DZ125. It was actually a pretty easy install. I used the original light board and cut a couple of trace lines on it and removed the brass strips that contacted the motor brush caps. I placed the DZ125 underneath the lightboard with a thin piece of cardboard under it to hold it up. I used a couple of shortcuts - I only used the one resistor on the light board for both headlights(the disadvantage to doing this is the headlights are dimmer when both are on at the same time) and I did not solder the orange and grey wires to the brush caps, I just globbed the wires up with solder until they fit tight when pressed into the holes in the caps.

ok so what is the differnce between the 123 and the 125 ?

The 125 has replaced the 123. The 125 is smaller and has Bemf compensation.
