On a thread last week someone mentioned using LED christmas lights which they said have a cone. They said the price was very low per LED.

Take a look at the Inverted Cone LED for 360 degree viewing. I have a 5mm one that will be in a light house with a electronic circuit to simulate a rotating beacon. They also cone in 3mm pkg.
Some can be good for structure lighting.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
Here's an article that might help:

Some text from it.
The shape of the encapsulation acts as a lens magnifying the light from the LED chip. Additionally, the tint of the encapsulation affects the LED's visibility. If the encapsulation is diffused, the light emitted by the chip is more dispersed throughout the encapsulation. If the encapsulation is non-diffused or water clear, the light is more intense, but has a narrower viewing angle. Non-diffused and water clear LEDs have identical viewing angles; the only difference is, water clear encapsulations do not have a tint to indicate color when the LED is not illuminated.
I have seen this term to describe leds ,what does it mean ? I am guessing it is the clear material that surrounds the led. It would seem that this is a good feature .Would warm white have a different material for the yellow effect? When I searched the internet it seems to come up with sites that sell these kind of leds but no exact info about what it means. Other term are diffused lens warm white, sunshine, yellow glow ,ultrabright. Is there a source to define these terms ? Some seem obvious, others ? Are some some these terms sales and marketing BS any info would be interesting to see more clear definitions of these terms..
