Steve Gill at Ulrich Models does a very good job. He is some distance away, Colorado.
Where do you live? There may be someone in your area that you can bring the engines to, and save the trouble and expense of shipping, along with the possibility of loss or damage.
I had a very good sound decoder installation done at Maine Trains in Chelmsford, MA. www.mainetrains.com. He does business through the mail, too. It was about a year and a half ago, but the labor charge was only $35 for a difficult sound installation in a small switcher. The shop hours are limited during the summer, but he always answers the phone when he's there. e-mail works too.

You should hear from someone. Also post the question in modelrailroadforums. There are a couple over there that do it as well.

Does anyone have a good suggestion of companies that you can send your pre-DCC loco's to to have sound decoders installed? I have several engines that have been given to me as gifts over the past 10 years that I love very much but do not have decoders and I dont trust myself to install them myself. I'd rather pay the money to and have the peace of mind that it is done right with no damage to the inside or outside of the engine.
Thanks,
PJ
