I acquired two EZ Track turnouts that were new. They claim on the package to be DCC friendly. I tried using one of them. The frog is metal. The one I tried meets all NMRA standards.
Here's the problem. When I run a loco or one of my Walthers Passenger cars through when it is thrown in the normal direction, the whole DCC system shorts out when a wheel hits the frog. It doesn't do it on the diverging route.
Any suggestions?

On the underside of the turnout there should be a wire that connects to the frog. This wire changes the polarity of the frog in relation to the turnouts position. If the wire is connected disconnect it and see if that solves your problem.

Also check the area of the problem and the wheels to make sure they're in gauge.
Run the train slowly through the area to see where it's shorting also. Some of my atlast turnouts needed adjusting and some filing to get rid of shorts.
Good Luck
