I may be a little obtuse about this but even after referring to the QSI Quantum Reference Manual, I do not understand how to change CV 55.70 to have the headlight on at all times unless turned off by the function key. Right now, the headlight comes on only after entering speed step one but I want it on all the time, as in my ESU LokSound decoders. Is this possible? If so, what are the CV settings? P.107 in the manual gives some settings in binary and hex which I find puzzling.

It as been a while since I programmed lighting in a QSI decoder.
First I would try the following : Set CV49=70
Set CV50=0
Set CV55=2
If not satisfy with this add the following : Set CV49=70
Set CV50=1
Set CV55=170
It would be very interesting to know the outcome of these setup

Jack,
Thanks for the info on CV's for headlight functions on QSI decoders. I printed your instructions out and then chickened out! I am waiting on a QSI programmer (I have a Prodigy Express and can't use the free progammer many use and MRC's is really poor. I am afraid I will mess up the lights so I plan to leave them til the programmer arrives. Thanks anyway. I appreciate it.

The QSI programmer won't change anything. You can experiment away and change the settings. If you get in trouble simply reset the decoder and it will go back to factory default. You'll never learn unless you try. Go for it
