Issue with Bachmann Decoder
Posted by adingus12 on Friday, June 18, 2010 1:00 AM

I bought a Bachmann Decoder to put in a DCC-Ready Athearn AC4400. After I installed the decoder and put the engine on the track, immediately when the track had power, the engine started running on its own. I couldn't control it or program it. Has anybody had this problem? Did I do something wrong or is it a faulty decoder?

That was it, thanks. I'm a newbie with DCC, but yeah I know that Bachmann's not exactly the best. But I thought, what the heck. Never again, though. The stupid thing started smoking after putting power to the tracks. Thanks again, though.

Primarily because of the jumper being left in place. Been there and done that.
