I CANNOT find a good CV chart for my loco! I've looked online to no avail. I find a partial chart, but nothing that tells me how to change the direction of my loco so I can add it to a AB set. As it is going to be running "backwards" I need to reset a CV to do this. This is the MRC sound equiped loco. I was surprised that Athearn doesnt have a printable version of the CV chart for their locos on their site. It has one for the new Tsunami's but not for the old MRC's. I need some help.
Generally with any decoder, adding "1" to the value of CV29 will change the direction. CV29 is kinda the main set-up CV for decoders.

Thanks for the info and I will try what you said. I guess if I change the direction of the trailing loco and program the address as the same as the AB I will have an ABA that runs right?
Here is a good CV29 calculator, just check off the options you need and it will tell you what value should be in CV29. http://www.2mm.org.uk/articles/cv29%20calculator.htm
CV29 is defined in the NMRA DCC standards and RPs, and any NMRA compliant decoder will use these values in the same way.

Why would you want to change the normal direction of travel of your locos? The prodigy system you are using is perfectly capable to built consist any which way you wish.

Sometimes you have to. For instance The BLI Blueline AC6000 has limited room for a decoder. I used an NCE N141P decoder but it only fits one way and that results in backwards running. Setting the CV29 to reverse fixes it.

Hamltnblue, the OP is talking about Genesis factory installed sound system, in this particular case there is no need to modify CV29.
With regard to Blue line engine, I installed two NCE N14IP in one AC6000 and one SD40-2 using the included extension plug and don't recall these had to be installed backward. I will check with my JMRI data base to make sure about that.

My AC6000 definitely had to have the direction bit changed. My since sold SD40-2 did not.

I see, next Wednesday at the club I will check what is the value I have in CV29 on that particular AC6000.
Here's a link on the MRC site which they refer to for their sound decoders. It's basic settings for CV29. Maybe the op just has it set to the wrong one.

Page 9 of the blueline manual in the link references that some decoders may require the direction bit to be changed. Mine was one of them since the AC6000 has very little room to put the decoder in. Off topic I know but just an FYI.

Thanks for the replies, I set 29 to 39 and presto it runs backwards. Now my ABA runs correctly. I knew that the Prodigy system has advanced consisting, but I've never done this before and darned if I couldnt find any instructions on how to do this. I guess I was looking for the easy way out by just changing the direction of the trailing loco.
Just found the manual, and yes it is very easy to consist with my system.
