Given the room inside an O scale model - absolutely go with a multiple speaker setup. A nice big one so you can get some rumble, and a smalelr one to get the highs.
I do have once concern - do you know how much current the motor draws? O scale models seem to be all over the place, with most tending to draw too much for HO decoders. Is that a LokSOund 3.5 or a LokSOund XL 3.5? Even the XL is only good for up to 3 amps, and if that's one of those dual-motored Atlas locos it draws more than that. Or are you going for a multiple decoder setup, with a seperate motor decoder and this just for sounds?

Sorry, I should have said. it will be a loksound V3.5
Can i also have your opinions about the turbocharger. turbo's are quite high frequency. is it worth having a second speaker and a simple 1st order butterworth filter?

Who makes the decoder? I googled it but nothing showed.

Hello folks. its been years since i posted on this forum but i think the specialised knowlage on here is more appropriate to my problem than the UK forum i normally frequent
I am buying a decoder for an O gauge GP30 but there seem to be so many options for american loco's that i am completly lost.
I am about to order this decoder
"EMD 567 16cylinder with turbo Charger 3Chime airhorn Diesel sound decoder Product Code: LS72433 "
From bromsgrove models but i want to check weather the horn is 2 tone or 3. it actually has 3 cones but one of them is pointing backwards. I have no idea why!
Is this the correct decoder or should i go for the 2 chime version?
Also can someone just check that i got the other details right. I am pretty sure i got the engine right (12 Cylinder 567) But i am also not sure if the GP30 had dynamic breaking which is another option on the decoders....
This is the speaker i was going to install.http://www.bromsgrovemodels.co.uk/pd-47323...?categoryId=117Will this be ok with the decoder?
