Marker Lights And Extra
Posted by alloboard on Sunday, April 25, 2010 10:29 PM

I have an HO Bachmann Acela trainset locomotive, a HHP-8, F40PH, and a Proto 2000 E7A. I have removed the lighting and the stupid reflecting piece of crap light reflectors from the Acela trainset locomotive and F40PH so I can upgrade to LEDs. I want a pair of ultra bright pure white for the headlight the same for ditch lights and a pair of ultra bright red for the tail lights. I will need a ultra bright Sunny white LED for the F40PH and Proto 2000 E7A. I know that Richmond controls sells these stuff but is there any other recommended LED vendors anyone would suggest that's out there? What is the best neatest method of mounting these lights and will I need other LED mounting accessories if so where can I buy them?

(Edited for brevity)

A bit of nomenclature:

  • The lights on the front of a locomotive that aren't headlights are classification lights, or ditch lights if they are mounted low down.
  • Only the, "tail lights," are markers.

Sorry I can't help you with your LED search.  I don't own an Acela, so I haven't the foggiest about appropriate parts or mountings.
