Sound decoder for Atlas GP-9?
Posted by Groove Rider on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 11:47 AM

I have been searching the net for the last couple of days for a sound decoder for my GP-9. The MRC speakers look like they might be too big and I am not sure if Tsunami makes one for these locos either.

I am picking up a Digitrax Zephyr soon and would like to know if its possible to put a sound decoder in my GP-9. Any recommendations?

Much work involved in getting  a sound enabled decoder into an  Nscale body . It can be done but it will not be plug and play.  The Tsunami is 1/2" by 1"  that should be a tight fit in Nscale. Add the speaker to this. Then the size of a speaker that fits has no low end  to speak of,   so you end up being un-impressed by the sound.  Removing heaft to make room for electronics  will cause traction issues.

Till all this comes down in size for Nscale you will have to forgo sound or  machine away weight and be creative to get sound into Nscale.
