Yeah thats pretty much the answer i was expecting. I've allready expeiranced the mrc sound and it was awsome for about the first two days and the rest was a nightmare. I currently have been switching ll over to tcs decoders with no sound and there is alot less headachs. Anyway maybe tsunami will eventually come out with a "drop- in" sound decoder till then i guess no sound. Thanks for the info though.

You don't specify so I'll suppose you're talking about steamers.Well, quite a few can be fitted with DCC/sound decoders thanks to the tender that allows some room, although not an easy job by any standard. If you're talking of diesels...euuuuuhhhh...I'd forget about it for the moment. No room to start with and heavy milling would reduce the weight of the loco thus it's pulling power, and this quite substantially. The ONLY option is MRC's "state of garbage" decoders that I suggest you don't touch with a twelve foot pole. And yes,the TSU 750 is an excellent choice.

sound decoders for kato n scale??
Posted by mmr1229 on Sunday, April 4, 2010 8:09 AM

I'm looking to install some quality sound in some of my n scale locos. I've been doing my research and thought the tsunami brand decoders would be the way to go. However, not to sure on how to install them using the original pc board also not sure if they even manufacture a decoder and speaker that would fit. I'm thinking that the tsu-750 would be the only one that would work. Don't know?? Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
