I have fitted decoders in many EMD, GE, and ALCO diesels in
the past but cannot get the body off my Stewart F7a & B.
I have inserted the usual 4 pieces of thin plastic where there appear to be fixing lumps and removed coupler boxes but no way will it come off. Has anybody any ideas please?

I can't answer your question because I don't have any of these models, but would like to suggest that you send an e-mail to Bowser Corporation, the owners of the Stewart brand name, and ask them.

The clear window / porthole has the tabs that go around the frame on mine. Look for the clear plastic tabs under the port holes and you will see what I mean.

I pray every day I break even, Cause I can really use the money!
I started with nothing and still have most of it left!
I can not comment on these locos but I have three Stewart VO-1000 locos and everything sort of "pops" apart. There are four screws to hold the motor in place on the frame. No other screws anywhere else, not even the power trucks or coupler boxes.
Probably some small tabs on the parts for yours.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
Don't forget to take the front coupler out of the A units!
