How to program ditch lights-Tsunami GN1000 decoder
Posted by joe1965 on Sunday, March 28, 2010 8:23 AM
I just installed two Soundtraxx Tsunami decoders in some of my Athearn Genesis locos. I am trying to program the ditch lights to stay on but alternate flash when the horn is pressed going across grade crossings. I currently have the CVs 51 and 52 set but both ditch lights flash together and remain on.

Did you rewire the Athearn Genesis ditch light bulbs to separate them ?  The stock Genesis wiring has the bulbs wired in parallel and that wiring has to be separated and connected to different functions on the decoder, or they will both flash at the same time instead of alternately, no matter what CVs you reset.

Can you tell me what you did to get the ditch lights to flash alternately?  I tried rewiring to the DCC board, but the Function 6 doesn't appear to work at all.  Right now they flash together, not alternately.

Thank you!

Here's what I did to get the ditch lights to flash when the horn blows. First you need to separate them on the decoder.

Program CV 51 to 41

Program CV 52 to 57

Program CV 59 to any value from 0 to 15 for the flash rate

Program CV 60 to about 6 for the hold time
